Weight Loss - Five Ways to Stay Motivated

So you've decided that it is time to lose weight. You've started your exercise routine and you are choosing healthful foods. Everything is going great for the first week. The second week rolls around and you ditched your exercise routine a couple days and find yourself not paying too much attention to what you are ordering at the restaurant with your friends. By week 3 you are back to your old habits and your weight loss goals are not being met. This is an all too common scenario when the comfort of our old habits takes hold and our new habits disappear. What happened to that motivation during the first week? It is possible to get your motivation back so you can meet all your life's goals. Practicing these 5 steps can help you stay motivated for the long haul.

1. Create a vision.

Have you ever written a business plan before? Writing a vision is crucial for the success of your business and it is crucial for your weight loss plan. Your vision is what you are working towards and how you envision your life. Why do you want to lose weight? You must go beyond "I want to lose 15 pounds" or "I want to fit into a size 8". Go a bit deeper. What will weight loss bring you? For most people it will bring increased energy and better health. It may even allow you to participate in something you have been longing to do like run a marathon or go on a back packing trip. These are heart-felt reasons to lose weight that will keep you motivated in the long run. When you start to slide back into your old habits, just ask yourself, is this choice bringing me closer to my vision?

2. Set goals each week.

One thing that can keep you on track is to set specific goals each week. Sit down at the beginning of each week and map out some simple goals that you can set for yourself. These don't have to be huge goals, just simple ones like: I will limit my ice-cream to 1 time this week. Goals help you to stay focused while changing habits. Post your goals all over as reminders.

3. Schedule your exercise

When embarking on a new fitness program, many people go at it whenever the time permits. This is a sure-fire way to slip out of the habit. It becomes too easy to let other things in your life become the priority. Try to schedule your exercise routine the same time each week. For example scheduling your weekly walk Monday - Thursday at 5:30pm helps you to create a habit which will get easier and easier to stick with. Keep your appointment with yourself just like you would a doctor's appointment. It is just as important!

4. Build your support system

Support comes in all different forms. This may be a walking buddy, group meetings, or professional services. No matter what road you take it is crucial to have your support system in place. This not only keeps you motivated but also helps to keep you accountable. Professional services such as a Registered Dietitian, Personal Trainer, or Life Coach can all help to provide sound advice and strategies to help you reach your goals. There are many wonderful resources out there to provide these kinds of services. Build your support system around each topic: nutrition, fitness, and self-discovery. Even signing up for some free e-newsletters or joining a weight loss message board helps towards building your support system.

5. When all else fails: the 3-step backup promise

Ok. You've tried all of the above and your old habits are just too strong of a deterrent. This is when you break out the 3-step backup promise. Make yourself a list of 3 minimum steps you promise to take daily. These steps will differ for each person. The key is they have to be completely easy and doable for you and still work towards your weight loss goals. It could be having a fruit or vegetable with each meal, going for a 10 minute walk, lifting hand weights for 10 minutes, etc. Then, when things start to derail you can agree to do the minimum After all you did promise yourself! Make up your 3-step back-up promise so when things aren't going well you can at least stay somewhat on track with 3 doable steps. http://ezinearticles.com/?Weight-Loss---Five-Ways-to-Stay-Motivated&id=98970

Monitor your health in between sessions and if you know of any health risks, be safe and opt for the fitness and health club instead.

A FINAL WORD OF CAUTION:
Take your weight training program details with you when you seek the advice of their doctor. He/she can then use it to refer you to a local qualified nutritionist as well as warn you of any possible dangers should you wish to change your eating habits or start a weight training program. Go for regular checkups at your local medical facility in order to monitor your progress and your health. Always check the correctness of online content with your doctor or a qualified medical practitioner. http://ezinearticles.com/?10-Muscle-Building-Tips-on-Safe-Weight-Loss-Muscle-Gain-Training-For-Increased-Confidence-and-Health&id=3200150

Weight Loss Motivation: An Important Rule To Follow In Order To Stay Motivated

Weight loss motivation can be a very powerful tool for helping you stay focused and committed to your diet and exercise plan. However, motivation to stick with dieting and exercising can be compromised when one important rule is not followed. In this article today I'm going to talk about this rule and how you can avoid it.
Okay, to better explain what I'm talking about, I'm going to tell a quick fictional story about a fictional person. Let's call her Sarah.

Now, Sarah is an overweight woman who is fed up with how she looks and how she feels. She has had enough. She wants to change her body and improve her health no matter what. So, she searches around and finds a good diet program and exercise program she feels she can stick with, and so she gets started with it.
Then, one day Sarah goes into work and her boss is throwing a party for everyone for meeting the sales quota for the month. Now it just so happens that the party... is a pizza party with lots of soda! Uh-oh!
But... Sarah refuses to give in!

The night before she prepared some grilled chicken breast, roasted red potatoes, and steamed broccoli to bring with her to work the next day for lunch. So, while everyone is having pizza, Sarah is having her super healthy lunch with a big bottle of water followed up with a cup of green tea.

Sarah wasn't feeling down about it, nor was she bragging about how she is eating healthy while everyone else is one slice of pizza away from having a heart attack! Then five o'clock hits and it's time for Sarah to go home. She gets home and greets her husband and kids. She then tells her husband about her victory today with avoiding giving into eating pizza and just sticking with eating her healthy lunch. Being the supportive husband, he gives her a warming "I'm proud of you honey".

So now Sarah changes into her house clothes and goes into the kitchen to prepare dinner. Being in the spirit of healthy living, she decides to go online and check out some health videos... She then comes across a video talking about why a particular type of diet isn't effective... And within this video, the person talking mentions a "slap in the face" comment that goes against what Sarah just went through today...The person in this video states that "it is socially unacceptable to be fat and unhealthy and eat like a health freak". What the BLEEP?!
So basically this person is saying that if you are out of shape, it isn't cool for you to eat healthy while everyone else isn't? It's unacceptable? Huh?

But now Sarah doesn't go with her first reaction in her gut and realises that what this person is saying is bunch of nonsense. She takes it to heart. She now feels confused and bad. She now starts saying: "maybe I should have had that pizza with my co-workers". And now begins the downward spiral of losing motivation and focus... and Sarah later ends up right back to unhealthy eating.

Sad, isn't it?

Well my friend, this is what I'm trying to make the point on: GO WITH YOUR GUT!
If you are reading or seeing some type of weight loss advice out there that just doesn't sit right with you, ignore it or investigate it further. Furthermore, if people come up with some asinine crap such as "it's socially unacceptable to be fat and unhealthy and eat like a health freak", then clearly that's someone you want to ignore by all means!

Bottom line, the Internet is a cesspool of weight loss tips and tricks, and not all of it is bad advice or hurtful recommendations. But because there is so much of it, the only defense you have to ensure that what you are feeding your brain with is good and helpful advice, is your gut instinct.

So, I hope that this story above and my weight loss motivation tip has helped you and made you realize just how important and effective natural instinct truly is! http://ezinearticles.com/?Weight-Loss-Motivation:-An-Important-Rule-To-Follow-In-Order-To-Stay-Motivated&id=7521142

Choosing Your Weight Loss or Fitness Program - What Is Right For You?

So far we have discussed three ways to set up your fitness journey to help you ensure a quicker and more effective weight loss. We have set our goals, chosen our diet, and now to pick a great program to go along with it. This program should take into account your physical limitations. This could include a previous knee or back injury, heart issues, or your general fitness level. Your time constraints should also be taken into account. Since I am a working mother, I find it difficult to pick a program that lasts longer than an hour. However, the program should be intense enough to burn calories too. Some of the workouts I do last longer than an hour, but I leave those workouts for a day when my husband is home to watch my son for that period of time.

Be sure to ask your coach to assist you in choosing a program that fits your goals, diet and lifestyle. They are knowledgeable and should be willing and ready to help you out. Once your program is chosen order it and read the nutrition guide and workout details as soon as possible. Then pick a start date. Make sure you have gone shopping to get all your meals for the week!

Make sure you also get a multivitamin to take daily as well. Go to a health store or online and purchase any supplements you need to take. Personally, I take a multivitamin, omega 3, and calcium magnesium vitamin. I also take a pre-workout formula for endurance as well as a Results and Recovery drink for a post workout drink. This helps repair muscles after a workout as well as prevent sore muscles. Next it's time to start! This is the time to go over your goals and make sure you feel motivated enough to begin.

If you think you need more motivation try joining a Challenge group. They are a great way to keep you supported and motivated by people who have similar goals than you. I have found several life-long friends from my groups and there results are amazing! Some lose weight quickly, while others may have taken a bit longer. Either way you have motivation from their results which makes you reaching yours not as impossible and you may get to your weight loss goal even quicker!!Just remember to maintain your focus on attaining your goals and when you are lacking motivation go to your coach and team mates for support.http://ezinearticles.com/?Choosing-Your-Weight-Loss-or-Fitness-Program---What-Is-Right-For-Me?&id=7247297

Weight Loss Motivation

Motivation is the driving force that gives you the willpower to accomplish a particular task and finally become successful in the endeavor you undertake. The level of motivation may change each day depending on how you feel and view certain experiences.

It is the key factor to be successful in weight loss programs. Weight loss motivation is one of the toughest types of motivation to acquire. It drives you to stick to the low fat selections and recipes required to achieve your weight goal. Besides, it provides you the willpower to get up and exercise so as to reach your weight goal.
Weight loss motivation can produce remarkable results. You can produce greater achievements if the level of motivation is higher. In other words, the strength of the motivation determines how much you are successful in your weight loss effort.

You have to find your own motivation so as to become successful at weight loss maintenance. Nowadays, there are tips and tricks available through the Internet to assist you in finding and maintaining your motivation. Also, there are motivational weight loss quotes to help you motivate yourself.

To improve motivation, you have to develop a different mind set. Hypnosis or hypnotherapy is found effective in boosting motivation in some people. It helps people to gain control over their mind.
There are certain things to consider before you go into the depth of weight loss motivation. As a first step to weight loss motivation, prepare a list of things that you want to do after losing weight. Before getting motivated for weight loss, you should learn to accept yourself. Also, you should focus on your strengths (positives) rather than your weaknesses (negatives).

The next step, setting goals will help you to focus on what you aim to achieve. While setting goals, it is advisable to set easily reachable goals so as to create a habit of success in your mind. In short, a high level of weight loss motivation is needed for effective results rather than the actual weight loss and fitness programs.

Find That Inner Motivation For Weight Loss

Finding and keeping your motivation for weight loss is not easy. The stress of daily living can throw you off track when it comes to sustaining willpower and the fast paced style of life will often impact a healthy lifestyle. It is important to continuously reaffirm your sense of inner motivation for weight loss so that you are able to achieve your goals. Fortunately, it is possible to realign that determination and motivation by setting up stepping stones for success and these will help you to stay focused and committed to your plan.
Finding that inner motivation means ascertaining exactly what you are trying to achieve and once this thought process becomes a conscious and determined thought, then it will help to consolidate your aims. Motivation for weight loss must come from within and not from external sources however well meaning.

There are many ways that you can help yourself achieve your goals such as:

· Set yourself some small and yet realistic weight loss goals and you will be more likely to succeed in the long term, plus reaching those goals will boost your intent no end.

· Try to visualise yourself reaching those goals, imagine how you will look and feel when you reach your goal, imagine the sense of self-satisfaction you will feel.

· If you are uncomfortable about how you look, have a current photo of yourself displayed in a prominent place so that it reminds you about your weight loss mission.

· Make a list of all the reasons that you want to lose weight and read it every time that you get mildly tempted to break your diet.

· Get your family to support you. Going it alone is difficult although not impossible, but with a little encouragement, you will get to your goals much quicker.
· There must be no blame or feelings of guilt as this will just detract from your motivation for weight loss and slow down your progress.
· Allow yourself to have a little treat every time you reach a milestone. This could be a trip to the hairdressers or a new outfit. Reward yourself and this will help your determination.
· Plan something amazing for when you reach your ultimate weight; make it something very special so that it spurs you on.
· Don't forget to add in some exercise but ensure that it is something that you enjoy. Any exercise is good and will aid you in your progress.
Following a weight loss plan is ultimately unique for everyone as desires vary from person to person. Providing you have matched your strongest desires with each relevant stepping stone, you will be able to succeed in boosting that inner motivation for weight loss.
