5 Everyday and Even Healthy Food Groups That Are Sabotaging Your Weight Loss

1. Not all vegetables are created equally. Vegetables that are that are very high in sugar levels and high on the gylcemic index (often referred to as GI, where the glucose in foods is used as a baseline to determine their GI number) are to be avoided when you are trying to lose weight. The top 5 vegetables to avoid are beets, corn, parsnips, red or white potatoes and turnips.

Weight Loss Tip: Hopefully I haven't lost half of you by telling you that corn and potatoes are killing your chances of losing weight because there are dozen of yummy vegetables you can eat! Red and green bell peppers, cabbage, cauliflower, bean sprouts, broccoli, celery, cucumber, eggplant, endive, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, peas, pumpkins, radishes, sauerkraut, snow peas, spinach, squash: yellow, butternut, spaghetti, acorn, string beans, sweet potatoes/yams, tomatoes, watercress and zucchini.

2. Not all fruits are equal either. It's pretty obvious that some fruits are much sweeter than others, and these bad boys are brutal on your waistline when you are trying to lose stubborn fat. You must avoid these fruits when you want to lose weight: ripe bananas, pineapples, raisins and large servings of watermelon.

Weight Loss Tip: Here are tons of sweet fruits you can eat: apples, apricots, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, cherries, grapes, kiwi, mandarin oranges, nectarines, oranges, peaches, pears, plums, raspberries, strawberries and tangerines.

3. Bakery Breads! You knew this one was going to be here! And these delicious delights are destroying any chance you have of losing those pounds. Here are a few of the culprits: french bread, dinner rolls, pistolettes, baguettes, pita bread, sliced white bread, and any breads that have sugars added such as corn syrup and molasses.

Weight Loss Tip: There is tons of yummy bread you can eat! Any sprouted bread (my favourite), whole rye bread, sunflower seed bread, whole-grain spelt bread, whole-grain bread, whole wheat pita and pumpernickel bread.

4. Beverages! The top killer to you losing weight! Completely avoid colas, sodas, juice and sport drinks with added sugars such as high fructose, corn and syrup - these drinks are keeping you fat!
Weight Loss Tip: Water! Drink your water people! Coffee, decaff coffee, herbal teas. crystal light, and diet Snapple.

5. Alcohol! I hate to be party killer Kate, but some alcohol is totally unacceptable when your goal is to lose weight. You must avoid beer, hard liquors with mixers containing added sugars and sweet after-dinner wines such as port and sweet sauternes.
Weight Loss Tip: You can enjoy red and white wines. Scotch, bourbon, rye, rum, tequila and vodka are also lower on the GI list. Enjoy!

Ten Best Weight Loss Fruits Your Diet Can't Afford To Miss

If you're losing weight, or trying to lose weight, you'll know that most diet food recommended is boring and tasteless. Dry crackers. Tuna salad without mayonnaise. Bought weight loss snacks that taste like sawdust. Well, if you're trying to limit the calories, fruit is one of your best options to go for. It's filling, it's healthy, it's low calorie and it's good.

In fact, fruit is key for successful, permanent weight loss, and a study done proved that successful dieters (those who'd lost weight and kept it off for over 5 years) all made fruit part of their diet. But of course, some fruits are better than others. Bananas and mangoes are higher in calories, and though sweet and filling, aren't the best choice for reducing your waistline and getting rid of that excess weight.

So what are the best weight loss fruits? I've compiled a top ten weight loss fruit list, based on calories and flavor, so that you can pick your own favorites and enjoy eating healthy.

#1: Strawberries - I love strawberries; they make it feel like summer all year round! At only 49 calories a cup (halved), and high in vitamin C and potassium, they make the perfect smoothie ingredient, too.

#2: Grapefruits - this one's made it big in the weight loss world, as a fat burner as well as a filling low calorie fruit. Half a medium grapefruit (that's as much as I can eat in one sitting for a snack) is a meager 40 calories.

#3: Grapes - Eat them frozen for a real flavor filled crunch. 1.5 cups gives you 30 calories.

#4: Oranges - This acidy fruit is one of my favorites, and it packs a mean vitamin-C punch! It's 40 calories for a medium sized orange.

#5: Cantaloupe melon - I love this one for its classy look at the dinner table and great taste! No one would dream that it's this low in calories - only 50 calories for a cup of this delicious fruit!

#6: Blackberries - At only 74 calories per cup, I love this one as a great cereal topping, weight loss shake ingredient, low fat yoghurt accompaniment or just plain on its own.

#7: Blueberries - This one's 7 more calories per cup than blackberries, but worth it! It also helps prevent and treat bladder infections. 81 calories for a cup.

#8: Apricots - You get to eat 5 fruits for 80 calories, so no more complaints about diet hunger here! High in fiber, potassium and Vitamins A and C, this fruit's a really healthy choice.

#9: Kiwi - Its high fiber and vitamin C content, with its tart yet sweet flavor makes it another of my favorite shake ingredients. 40 calories per medium fruit.
#10: Raspberries - Not one of my personal favorite flavors, but so low in calories that I just had to include it! At only 60 calories per cup, go for this berry as your breakfast accompaniment or weight loss snack if you like its flavor.

Just remember, moderation is KEY in all your diet attempts! Don't be tempted to go overboard just because it's a healthy diet snack.  http://ezinearticles.com/?Ten-Best-Weight-Loss-Fruits-Your-Diet-Cant-Afford-To-Miss&id=6556720
